ATHLETE REGISTRATION

2024 Registration Date: Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 10am AEST (February 14, 2024 at 4pm PST)
Registration Deadline: Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 11:59pm AEST (May 18 at 4:59am PST)

Riders must register in the same category for all events (there is not an option to register in Pro for one event and Amateur for another).

Key notes for Registering 

**For competitors 17 years and younger, a parent can create a profile and add their children under “Manage Additional Athletes”

**Please note, you can only have ONE tab open in a browser at a time to register an athlete. 

For Parents 
If you are a parent registering multiple children, you can only register one child at a time. You will need to navigate to “Manage Additional Athletes”, select the first child, register then pay, before proceeding to register your second or third child.

Waitlists
Once a category has sold out, please add yourself or child to the waitlist by navigating to “register for events”, selecting the race and then clicking ‘Sold Out, Join waitlist’.
Please only click this button ONCE. If you click multiple times, it will remove you and then re-add you at the bottom of the waitlist.

Cancellation Policy

Entry fees are refundable (less processing fee) providing cancellation notice is received in writing to athletes@crankworx.com by the registration deadline. Registration deadline is Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 11:59pm AEST. All entries are non-refundable or transferable after the registration deadline (even in the case of injury or mechanical problems).

Competitors who need to withdraw after the registration deadline should email athletes@crankworx.com to confirm their withdrawal otherwise they will appear on the start list as a DNS.

INSURANCE

Crankworx Cairns delivers a first-class medical plan across the event to ensure the safety and piece of mind of our event attendees.  The venue and each course is staffed with first responders from Assist First Aid and Paramedical / Ambulance support from Queensland Ambulance service. 

While we deliver a safe environment for our athletes to push their boundaries, accidents can occur and it is recommended that each participant review their level of coverage to ensure it is appropriate for their needs in the event of injury.

REGISTRATION FAQS

1. Do I need to purchase a festival pass if I am competing?
No your race registration includes access to the 5 day festival

2. Do I need to purchase a ticket for uplift shuttles?
No, your race registration includes uplift shuttles for DH training days and competition  

3. Where do I pick up my race plate?
Race plates will be collected from the athlete registration tent during the designated check in hours which will be posted soon.

4. Where do I find out what time I am racing/training?

5. What license will I need to compete in CWX Cairns?
Crankworx Downhill
The Crankworx Cairns Downhill is sanctioned by the UCI and AUSCycling as a C1 race incorporating the Oceania Downhill Mountain Bike Championships. All categories will require a race license or membership from riders national federations.

Most national federation licenses / memberships will provide personal accident insurance.  It is recommended that athletes are familiar with this cover to ensure it is suitable to their needs.

Queensland Ambulance Service
Queensland Ambulance crews will be strategically deployed across the event site.  In the event that you may require transport from the event site to hospital, it is possible that you may incur a fee for this service.

Individuals whose principal place of residence is Queensland are automatically covered, however it is recommended that visitors to the state of Queensland should review their coverage and ensure it is suitable to their needs.  Note that many personal accident insurance policies may not cover, or only partially cover this service.

There are no license requirements for athletes competing in the Dual Slalom and Pump Track races

There is no license required for children participating in Kidsworx events.


6. Is there parking at the venue?
Parking is located in the general event parking areas within James Cook University.

7. What protective gear do I need to compete?
Full-face helmets are required for all Crankworx events (Downhills, Dual Slalom, Whip-off, Speed & Style, Pump Track and Slopestyle).

8. I am on the waitlist for an event, how will I know if I will be able to race?
Athletes on the waitlist have been invited as places open up in their event/category. If you are invited, you will have 24hours to register. If your link expires before you have time to register, please email crankworx@auscycling.org.au to have your invite resent to you.

9. What events do you have for Kids that are too young to compete in Crankworx Events?
Kidsworx events are for riders aged 5-12 years old. Kidsworx Schedule TBD

10. I can no longer attend Crankworx, can I get a refund?

11. How do I nominate my parent/coach for athlete support accreditation?
Amateur Athletes are entitled to nominate 1 person for Athlete Support accreditation. The nominated person must purchase a 5 day Festival Pass, which they can swap for an Athlete Support accreditation at rider registration.

Athlete Support accreditation grants the nominated person access to the venue before the public opening times together with access to the DH track walk.

Please note, the nominated athlete support person must attend rider registration with the athlete they are supporting to pick up their accreditation.
