Closing out Super Saturday at Crankworx Whistler: The Ultimate Pump Track Challenge 

Having been rescheduled twice – first due to challenges with the track and then due to the rescheduling of Red Bull Joyride – the Ultimate Pump Track Challenge took place under the golden hour at Whistler Mountain Bike Park’s Boneyard. This fun-filled event was full of intense racing, with riders pushing their speed, flow, and power to the limits in a head-to-head style competition. After some fierce battles, Jordy Scott and the newly crowned King of Crankworx, Ryan Gilchrist, emerged as the winners of this year’s Ultimate Pump Track Challenge. 

Tommy Zula, who beat Tuhoto-Ariki Pene in semifinals, fought hard against Ryan Gilchrist in the final two runs. Ultimately, Gilchrist emerged victorious, being the only rider today to clock in at under 12 seconds on the demanding Pump Track course. In the small final, Niels Bensink repeated his bronze medal placement from Crankworx Rotorua earlier this year, demonstrating his consistent performance.

On the women’s side, Kialani Hines and Jordy Scott faced off in the gold medal matchup. Scott put down a faster time than Hines, who took home the silver medal. In the battle for bronze, newly crowned Queen of Crankworx Martha Gill was defeated by Dani Johnson, who earned her first-ever Crankworx medal, rounding out an all-US women’s podium. With today’s victories, Ryan Gilchrist, who has taken home three gold and one silver medal, and Jordy Scott, who has earned three gold and one bronze medal at this year’s four Crankworx Pump Track Challenge events, dominated the discipline. 

With the King & Queen of Crankworx rankings determined early after last night’s Outdoor Research Speed & Style, the stakes were lower for the contenders, creating a relaxed and celebratory atmosphere for athletes and spectators alike.
