Betty Taylor is the friend that holds your hand after your hearts been broken. The band is made up of Sophie Patrick, whose indie hooks and sincere evocative lyrics are complimented by Kayla Smart (AKA Dorah Jacson)’s beautiful harmonies and wistful guitar riffs. Helping to strike this perfect balance between power and charm are Clare Chittick on bass and Katie Ishaque on drums.

From an open mic to a backyard party show just over a year ago, Betty Taylor has quickly become Australia’s newfound companions. In late 2022 they signed with development label Hello Gardener and their debut track ‘Stallin’. Produced by one of Australia’s most exciting engineers Aidan Hogg (known for G Flip, Jaguar Jonze, Hope D), the single premiered on triple J and has already accumulated close to 200,000 streams. Their endearing live show presence has graced stages alongside acclaimed acts such as girl in red, Beddy Rays, Teenage Dads, Matt Corby, and Boy and Bear. They’ve also left their mark on memorable festivals, with a recent standout performance at Groovin the Moo. In the midst of 2023, Betty Taylor took a significant step forward by joining the revered global agency WME.

Their second single ‘Glitter’ received notable recognition, being featured on Good Nights on Triple J, Home & Hosed, and Best New Music with Richard Kingsmill. Its immediate addition to playlists upon release underscored its impact. The band’s prominence continued to grow as they appeared on the ‘Australian Made’ Hot Nights/Abbie Chatfield program. A comprehensive interview reached a national audience, complemented by a captivating live filmed performance across various SCA, Hot Night, and Abbie Chatfield social media platforms.

Looking ahead, the rest of the year promises an exciting lineup of events for the band. They’re set to embark on tours alongside Teenage Dads and Boy and Bear, culminating in a notable appearance at NYE on the Hill. With a strong international focus on the horizon, Betty Taylor is poised to make their mark well into 2024
