Getting to Christchurch
Thanks to its central location, Christchurch is a breeze to get to, making it one of the most accessible cities in the country!
Christchurch Airport is the closest international airport if you’re travelling from overseas. From there, it’s a short 20-minute car ride to the city.
Rental car agencies such as Hertz, Budget, Avis and/or others are located at both airports.
Transport between the airport and city is also available via shuttle services or Metro bus; travel times may be slightly longer.
If you’re traveling with your bike and transiting through Christchurch Airport, you’ll find a handy bike assembly/disassembly and wash area onsite. For more information on traveling with your bike, head to Air New Zealand’s information on packing bikes.
