VOLUNTEER FAQ
DO I NEED A BIKE OR BE A MOUNTAIN BIKER TO VOLUNTEER?
No. Bikes are not necessary and no mountain bike experience is required! There are roles for everyone.
ARE THERE ANY PERKS FOR VOLUNTEERING?
Of course there are! All volunteers will receive a Crankworx Summer Series Crew tee, free entry to the festival site to enjoy the event outside of your volunteer shifts and snacks to keep fuelled for your shift. Volunteering for Crankworx is a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and get a glimpse into the inner workings of the world’s premier mountain bike festival.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO MY VOLUNTEER DAY?
We suggest that you consult the forecast ahead of time and dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Wear comfortable shoes to all shifts – indoors or outdoors. It’s handy to carry a backpack with the following: hat, cell phone, sunscreen, water bottle, lunch, camera, jacket/sweater, and umbrella. Weather can change drastically throughout the day.
When arriving for your first shift, we will give you your Crew Shirt. Please wear this for every shift.
IS THERE A MINIMUM NUMBER OF SHIFTS I NEED TO COMMIT TO?
We are looking for people to commit to a minimum of 3 shifts during event week.
HOW LONG ARE THE SHIFTS?
The volunteer shifts range anywhere from two to 8 hours.
WILL I BE OUTSIDE ALL DAY?
Depending on where you are assigned, you may be indoors or outdoors. Even if you’re signed up for an indoor shift, please be prepared to be outdoors as sometimes your responsibilities will require you to work both.
WILL FOOD BE PROVIDED FOR ME?
Yes, we will make sure you have enough snacks to keep you fuelled for your volunteer shift. If you’ll be volunteering all day or require a big lunch, we recommend bringing your own sandwich to complement the snacks provided. Please make sure you bring your own water bottle. There will be refill stations available on site.
CAN I VOLUNTEER IF I’M UNDER 18?
Yes. The minimum age to volunteer is 16.
IS THERE FREE ACCOMMODATION PROVIDED FOR VOLUNTEERS?
We do not provide accommodation for volunteers.
