Media FAQs

How can I get access to Crankworx as a journalist/photographer?

Please complete the Media Accreditation form above with all required details about you and your work. The more information we have about you and your outlet, the more likely we’ll be able to grant you a media pass.

What do you base your selection on?

Media accreditation is based on the type of the outlet or channel you are working for and the compatibility of it’s audience with our event format. We’ll also take the quality of your coverage into consideration, if you’ve covered the event in previous years. If possible, please provide a letter of assignment; the more information we have about you and your planned coverage of the event, the more likely your application will be approved.

How long will it take to hear back?

You will receive confirmation that we’ve received your application within a few weeks of your submission. Once we’ve received it, we will evaluate it and let you know whether or not your application has been successful. Please note, the closer we get to the event, the busier our media department gets. Please be patient while waiting to hear back – we will do our best to give you an answer as soon as possible.

I applied a long time ago and still haven’t heard anything. What do I do?

In that case, please send an email to media@crankworx.com so we can make sure that your application went through correctly and reached our inbox. We’ll do our best to get back to you as soon as possible with an update.

I received notice that my accreditation has been approved. What happens now?

Congratulations!
Now, it’s your turn. When you receive your confirmation, you should also receive our Media Coverage Agreement which we’ll need back from you within 14 days of receiving it. That email also includes more information on how to get to and book your stay in Whistler – this includes a special media rate for accommodation, and options for transportation. Please note that you are responsible for making sure these details are arranged ahead of time.

I received notice that my accreditation has been denied. Why?

While we would love to invite everyone and their dog to Whistler to take in the amazingness that is Crankworx, unfortunately we do have to cut things off at some point. Every year we are stoked to see the interest in Crankworx grow, and the number of awesome folks who want to come and capture all the action. Please don’t take it personally, and be sure to apply next year. If you are convinced we made a mistake, shoot us an email to media@crankworx.com

What does media accreditation actually get me?

You will receive a physical piece of accreditation – a wristband, lanyard or bib – which gets you closer to the action during our events. This accreditation is good for all of the Crankworx events, with the exception of Slopestyle at Crankworx Whistler. Media access to the Red Bull Joyride Slopestyle event is extremely limited, so please note that you might not get super close to the action at this one – more details on access areas and media zones to follow closer to the event.

Your accreditation also gets you on a special circulation list. You’ll receive daily event emails from our team, as well as all event result releases, photos etc. You’ll potentially also receive a lift pass so that you can get out and experience the Whistler Mountain Bike Park if you’re covering events that take place up on the mountain.

Please be sure to also sign up here if you wish to receive press releases all year to follow what’s happening on the Crankworx World Tour.

What happens when I arrive in Whistler for Crankworx? Where do I go? What do I do?

Closer to the date, we’ll send you details of where you can pick up your media package, including all the information you’ll need to make the most of your time. Once you’ve done that, you’re all set to get out and experience the festival.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to us at media@crankworx.com
